A little context on the design, in case it is helpful. The hangers are sized and shaped to fit inside the garment bag, and the flexible foam adds support while keeping pressure off your clothes. Wooden and plastic hangers can break in transit and pull on whatever is hanging on them, so the dual hinge lets these move and flex as you travel and take on that stress instead. It is also why the ladder hanger is fixed in just one position, so your clothes can move with the garment bag rather than sitting rigid and taking on the stress themselves.

And you are right that you can bend and round them however you like. That part is very much intentional.
